Here at The Edge we welcome all kinds of wildlife. Including the predators. This morning I was standing at the kitchen sink, drinking my coffee and all of the birds at the feeders suddenly took off.
Bam.
Bird strike on the window.
Whoosh.
Here comes the source of the panic.
A Cooper's Hawk (sorry no photos, she didn't pose for me. This image is by Louis Agassiz Fuertes and is in the public domain because it was drawn for the USDA).
The beautiful girl picked up the poor, stunned bird that struck the window and took her off for breakfast.
The Cooper's breakfast. Not the poor little goldfinch's breakfast. That was rudely interrupted.
